Tax ITR Filing Error and solution - Invalid xml file error when uploading?
Bad XML errors may occur
due to the following possible reasons -
1. The XML file may be generated by using the previous
version of Return utility.
2. Altered or manipulated
XML file after generating from ITR utility software.
3.
Excel ITR utility requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installed on the
same system.
Excel Utility resolution:
1- Check the latest version of
excel utility available on Income Tax Website download and use it.

The return will not be allowed to
be uploaded. An error message will be displayed.

|
Return data will be allowed
to be uploaded but the taxpayer uploading the return will be informed of a
possible defect present in the return u/s 139(9). Appropriate notices/
communications will be issued from CPC.

|
Third-party utility providers
will be alerted about the inconsistent data quality and warned about future barring of their utility.
|
d.
|
Return data will be allowed
to be uploaded but the taxpayer uploading the return will be informed of a
possibility of some of the deduction or claim not to be allowed or
entertained unless the return is accompanied by the respective claim forms or
particulars.

1- Ensure
that Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installed on system if not then download and
install it first. link to

Regenerate xml file from the latest ITR excel
utility

Don’t forget to use option calculate tax.
Java ITR Utility:
1. Ensure that Java already
install the system
2. Set environment variable
for Java Application.
Win7- Right-click My Computer icon and Point to Properties - Advanced
Win 8 – Go to Control Panel - System - Advanced System Settings
Win 10 - Search for Environment Variables and edit the system
environment variables
Click new variable name any of your choices in
the variable value set the path of the java software the default path is C:\Progra~1\Java\java_version
3. Download the latest
version of ITR Java utility form income tax.
4. Regenerate XML file
and try again on income tax portal.
